Cognitive neuroscience is an interdisciplinary and emerging field, which has been developing rapidly over the past decade. Undoubtedly, exploring the mysteries of the mind is a most challenging scientific frontier, with the highest developmental potential in the twenty-first century. Over the past six years, our Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, the National Key Laboratory at Beijing Normal University, has developed into a thriving, high-level and exclusive research team in the field of cognitive neuroscience in China, and this institute has become a window to showcase the research accomplishments of Chinese cognitive neuroscience.
Currently, our institute is focused on five research orientations: psychological development and brain development, basic cognition, language, emotion and social cognition, and neural computation and methodology. We have maintained diverse brain-imaging platforms, including a 3T magnetic resonance imaging system, sober monkey laboratory, electroencephalograph (EEG), near-infrared imaging system, eye movement study system, trans-cranial magnetic stimulation system (TMS), and molecular genetics and behavioral neuroscience section. We plan to establish another state-of-the-art platform of 7T magnetic resonance imaging system in the next three years.
In recent years, our institute has undertaken many national ...
